How to Successfully Grow Caper Bush from Seed
Patience and a few specific steps will reward you with thriving caper bushes. To prepare your Capparis Spinosa seeds for germination:
- Initial Soak: Submerge the seeds in a jar or bowl of warm water and let them soak for 12 hours.
- Cold Stratification: Remove the seeds, wrap them in a moist towel, and place them in a sealed plastic bag in your refrigerator for a crucial 65–70-day cold stratification period.
- Second Soak: After refrigeration, soak the seeds in warm water again for another short period.
Once prepared, plant your seeds ¼ inch deep in a well-draining mixture of planting mix and sand in a pot. Water thoroughly and place the pot in a warm location that receives part to full sun. Ensure consistent moisture but avoid waterlogging. When the seedlings are strong and the growing season is suitable in your area, you can transplant them outdoors to their permanent location.
