Lisianthus Arena® Rose IV Seeds
Premium F1 Japanese Lisianthus – Large Double Rose-Pink Blooms – Professional Cut Flower Series
Lisianthus Arena® Rose IV belongs to the internationally respected Arena® F1 breeding program of Eustoma grandiflorum, developed specifically for the professional floriculture industry where stem quality, flower size, uniformity, transportability, and post-harvest performance are prioritized above conventional ornamental characteristics.
Unlike standard lisianthus cultivars grown primarily for bedding displays or home gardens, the Arena® Series was bred to satisfy the demanding requirements of commercial cut flower growers, wholesalers, exporters, and luxury florists.
Arena® Rose IV produces elegant fully double flowers in a refined soft rose-pink color. Numerous overlapping petals create a luxurious rose-like bloom with exceptional fullness while maintaining the graceful texture unique to lisianthus. Flowers develop with remarkable uniformity and retain their shape throughout the flowering period.
As a Group IV cultivar, Arena® Rose IV belongs to the latest flowering group within the Arena® Series. This later flowering habit allows plants to develop longer stems, stronger growth, and premium-quality flowers under suitable production conditions.
The variety is especially valued for its exceptionally hard stems, reliable branching, excellent transportability, outstanding vase life, and premium flower quality, making it one of the preferred cultivars for professional cut flower production worldwide.

Seed Germination
- Lisianthus seeds are extremely fine and is supplied in pelleted form to allow precise individual sowingو and require light for successful germination. Sow the seeds on the surface of a fine, pre-moistened growing medium without covering them with soil.
- Maintain a constant temperature of 20–22°C and high humidity throughout the germination period. A humidity dome or propagation chamber is recommended until germination begins.
- Provide bright indirect light immediately after sowing. Once seedlings emerge, gradually improve air circulation while maintaining even moisture. Avoid allowing the growing medium to dry out completely or become waterlogged.
- After the first true leaves develop, gradually reduce humidity and provide stronger light to encourage compact, sturdy seedlings.
Growing Instructions
- Sow Arena® Rose IV seeds on the surface of a fine, pre-moistened growing medium without covering them, as light is essential for germination.
Maintain a constant temperature of 20–22°C with high humidity until germination. - Once seedlings emerge, provide bright light and good air circulation to produce compact, sturdy plants.
- Transplant seedlings after 2–4 true leaves have developed, taking care not to disturb the delicate root system.
- Grow plants in fertile, well-drained soil enriched with organic matter, maintaining a soil pH between 6.2 and 6.8.
- Provide full sun during the cool season. In regions with intense spring sunshine, light afternoon shade helps maintain flower quality and prolongs the flowering period.
- Water regularly to keep the soil evenly moist but never saturated. Avoid allowing plants to wilt, as moisture stress may reduce stem quality and flower size.
- Feed with a balanced fertilizer during vegetative growth, then gradually increase potassium once flower buds begin to develop to promote stronger stems and improved flower quality.
- Support plants with horizontal flower netting or other support systems when grown for commercial cut flower production to keep stems perfectly straight.
- In Kuwait, sow seeds from August inside a cooled greenhouse or protected nursery. Transplant outdoors only after temperatures become suitable for cool-season growth.
- Flowers generally begin approximately 120–150 days after sowing, depending on temperature, light intensity, and production conditions.
- Harvest stems when the first flower is fully open and one or two additional buds show color. This stage provides the best balance between vase life and flower development.
- Cut stems early in the morning using clean, sharp snips, and immediately place them into clean, cool water.
Growing Tips
- Arena® Rose IV performs best under cool growing conditions with excellent light intensity and consistent moisture.
- Avoid excessive nitrogen fertilization after flower buds appear, as overly soft vegetative growth may reduce stem strength and post-harvest quality.
- Maintain good air circulation throughout production to reduce humidity around the foliage and minimize disease pressure.
- Remove weak side shoots if exceptionally long exhibition-quality stems are desired.
- For premium cut flower production, harvest continuously throughout the flowering period to encourage the development of additional flowering stems.
- Store harvested stems immediately at 2–4°C to maximize vase life and preserve flower quality during transportation.
- The naturally strong stems and excellent transportability of Arena® Rose IV make it particularly suitable for wholesale floristry, wedding designers, and export-quality production.
- It recommends using 2 layers of support netting with lisianthus. When it has ample water and is transplanted at the proper time, lisianthus can easily reach 3–4 feet in height. These tall stems with large heavy flowers topple easily. Irrigate as needed, keeping the soil slightly moist — lisianthus tolerates moderate drought once established but performs best with consistent moisture. Drip irrigation is preferred once plugs are established. All lisianthus will initially produce one bud, followed by side branches that make many more buds. Removing the first bud when it appears allows the plant’s carbohydrates to flow to the next series of buds — often 3 or 4 of these large buds. Wait until these are open to harvest.
- There will likely be a series of buds held just above these open flowers; if they are mature enough, they will continue to open in the vase. Even in plain clean water, lisianthus should last well more than a week.
- For harvest, cut stems when 2–3 flowers are fully open, and the remaining buds are showing good color development. The thick petals of Arena IV Rose provide excellent handling durability — store in holding solution at 4–5°C for maximum vase life. In Kuwait’s cool season, Arena IV Rose’s late-group flowering schedule.
Gulf Planting Season
- Sow pelleted seed indoors: July to mid-August
- Transplant to final outdoor position: only after temperatures become suitable for cool-season growth.
- Flowering: February through March.
- Vase life at harvest: 14–21 days
- Note: Arena IV Rose requires Kuwait’s established lisianthus protocol — indoor sowing in air-conditioned conditions in July– August. The Group IV late-flowering schedule, combined with Kuwait’s cool-season transplant timing of September–October, produces a first harvest from December onward — perfectly aligned with the peak of Kuwait’s cool season when the full 80–100 cm stem height and hot rose color of Arena IV Rose are most dramatically expressed. The 14–21-day vase life confirmed for lisianthus generally makes Arena IV Rose the longest-lasting cut flower in this catalogue by a considerable margin — a single well-cut stem of Arena IV Rose at the correct harvest stage outlasts most other flowers in any arrangement by one to two weeks. For Kuwait growers wanting to produce a rolling harvest of lisianthus through the cool season, combining Arena IV Rose with an earlier-group Arena variety — such as Group II or Group III — in a single planting session provides staggered harvest timing from the same sowing date, extending the total cut flower production window.
Companion Planting
- Arena IV Rose lisianthus is primarily grown for its outstanding premium cut flower value.
- In the cool-season cutting garden, the hot rose color of Arena IV Rose occupies the warm pink-red register that is most universally demanded in professional floristry.
- The tall 80–100 cm stems of Arena IV Rose make it the most structurally imposing lisianthus in this catalogue, suitable for use as a vertical accent element in large-scale event arrangements where most other cool-season flowers in this catalogue lack sufficient stem height. In mixed cut flower arrangements,
- Arena IV Rose provides stem height and visual mass that ranunculus, anemones, and compact flower types cannot — making it the natural structural anchor for tall mixed bouquets and event centerpieces.
- Ranunculus Elegance® Rosa planted alongside Arena IV Rose in the cutting garden creates a coordinated warm-pink harvest of complementary bloom forms — the densely doubled ranunculus and the rose-like fully doubled lisianthus sharing a pink tonal register while offering fundamentally different textural and form characters in arrangement. White lisianthus from a Group I or Group II Arena variety planted alongside Arena IV Rose allows the rose colour to read at maximum saturation against the white backdrop while providing a simultaneous white harvest from the same Arena series at different timing points in the season.
