Dahlia ‘Dutch Delight’ – Coral & Golden Double Orchid Dahlia Tuber

Dahlia ‘Dutch Delight’ is a distinctive Double Orchid Dahlia producing fully double blooms with narrow, elegantly twisted and pinched petals that create a dynamic star-like flower form.
The flowers display a vibrant blend of bright golden yellow at the petal bases, shading into orange-yellow and heavily overlaid with bright red-pink and coral tones, often with darker red-pink edging. The reverse of the petals is similarly orange yellow with strong red, pink coloring. The International Dahlia Register officially places Dutch Delight in Group 13 – Double Orchid.

Blooms reach up to approximately 15 cm across, while plants may grow from around 90 cm in commercial production to approximately 120 cm under stronger conditions.
It’s unusual flower form, warm multicolored palette and good cutting qualities make Dutch Delight an excellent choice for cutting gardens, artistic bouquets and vibrant floral arrangements.

Growing in Kuwait

  • For Kuwait conditions, Dahlia ‘Dutch Delight’ is best grown during the cooler growing season after extreme summer temperatures have declined.
  • A practical planting period is: October to November
  • Plant tubers approximately 10–15 cm deep, positioning the crown and growing eyes upward.
  • Avoid excessive watering immediately after planting. Once shoots and active roots develop, gradually increase watering while maintaining excellent drainage.
  • Provide good sunlight during the cooler months, with some protection from intense afternoon heat as temperatures rise toward the end of the season.
  • Because plants may reach approximately 120 cm tall, staking is recommended.
