Dahlia ‘Moderato’ – Lilac Bronze Ball Dahlia Tuber

Dahlia ‘Moderato’ is an elegant Ball Dahlia producing beautifully rounded, fully double blooms in a sophisticated blend of warm apricot-bronze, salmon-pink and soft lilac tones.

The International Dahlia Register records pale orange-yellow petals softly overlaid with reddish pink toward the tips, while specialist grower Fred de Meulder describes the commercial color as Lilac Bronze.

Flowers typically measure approximately 9–12 cm across, while mature plants grow to around 100 cm tall. Its balanced rounded form, unusual muted coloring and strong cutting quality make Moderato an excellent choice for cutting gardens, bouquets and sophisticated floral arrangements.

Growing in Kuwait

• For Kuwait conditions, Dahlia ‘Moderato’ is best grown during the cooler growing season once extreme summer temperatures have declined.
• A practical planting period is: October to November
• Plant tubers approximately 10–15 cm deep, positioning the crown and growing eyes upward.
• Avoid excessive watering immediately after planting. Once shoots emerge and active roots develop, gradually increase watering while maintaining excellent drainage.
• Provide strong sunlight during the cooler months, with some protection from intense afternoon heat as temperatures rise toward the end of the season.
• Because plants reach approximately 100 cm tall, staking or plant support is recommended.
