Growing Your Chinese Sweet Basil
Sow your Basil Chinese Sweet seeds indoors 4-6 weeks before the last expected frost or directly outdoors once the soil has warmed and all danger of frost has passed.
Choose a sunny location with well-drained soil. Sow seeds shallowly, about 1/4 inch deep, and gently cover. Keep the soil consistently moist until germination occurs, typically within 7-14 days. When transplanting seedlings or thinning direct-sown plants, space them about 12-18 inches apart to allow for their full growth.
Water regularly, especially during warm weather, and harvest leaves as needed to encourage bushier growth and maximize your flavorful harvest.

Basil Everleaf Emerald Towers is a gorgeous, dark green, glossy leafed, columnar habit basil ideal for any garden. Traditional Genovese flavour is perfect for eating fresh in caprese salad or chopped fresh in recipes. It flowers 10 to 12 weeks later than standard basil, allowing huge harvests of leaves throughout the season. A well-branched variety with short internodes that makes a beautiful towering plant with huge harvest potential for in-ground, container, and hydroponic use. Thompson & Morgan presents this variety in their City Garden line — confirming its suitability for urban container and balcony growing — and describes it as a narrow, upright grower with long-lasting leaves. The most productive and longest-season sweet basil.
