Strawberry Soraya F1 Seeds
(Premium Day-Neutral Everbearing Strawberry)
Strawberry Soraya F1 is a premium F1 hybrid from ABZ Seeds — the Dutch specialist strawberry breeding company recognized globally for developing the finest seed-propagated strawberry varieties. The name Soraya is of Persian origin, meaning “jewel”, and Soraya shines like a jewel in the ABZ range. That name reflects the quality of this variety accurately — Soraya produces beautiful, firm, uniformly shaped fruits with a rich sweet flavor and outstanding shelf life that sets it apart from ordinary home garden strawberries.
Soraya is a day-neutral everbearing variety, meaning it flowers and fruits independently of day length. This makes it reliably productive across the full Gulf cool season without any special management. Plant it in autumn, and it will reward you with a continuous steady supply of firm, bright red berries from November through April. The fruits are conical and well-shaped, with a deep red color that holds through the shelf life and a sweet aromatic flavor with notes of caramel that develops well under cool growing conditions.
Soraya produces roughly 1.25–1.5 kg per plant with an average fruit size of 16–35 g and a Brix of 8–11.For a home garden strawberry grown in containers or raised beds, these are exceptional numbers — generous fruit size, high natural sweetness, and a firm texture that means berries hold well after picking rather than softening immediately.
Soraya was originally developed by ABZ Seeds for professional greenhouse production, which means its genetics are among the most refined available in a seed-propagated strawberry. The everbearing variety has proven itself in summer greenhouse cultivation and is suitable for year-round cultivation under the right conditions. For home growers in the Gulf, this professional pedigree translates directly into a stronger, more vigorous plant, more uniform fruit, and more reliable productivity across the season compared to standard garden varieties.
Soraya grows as a compact, vigorous plant and is well suited to pots, raised beds, containers, hanging baskets, and home garden plots. In the Gulf cool season, full outdoor sun growing from October through April delivers excellent results without any supplemental lighting or protected cultivation.

Seed Germination
- Seed depth: Surface sow or very light cover — 2–3 mm maximum
- Germination time: 7–14 days under optimal conditions
- Ideal germination temperature: 20–24°C
- Important — Cold Stratification Required: Place seeds in a sealed container in the refrigerator at 2–5°C for 3–4 weeks before sowing to break natural dormancy and achieve reliable germination.
- After stratification, allow seeds to acclimatize at room temperature for 24 hours before sowing.
- Surface sow on moist, sterile seed-starting mix in a warm, bright position at 20–24°C.
- Seeds require light for germination — do not cover deeply. Do not fertilize during germination — strawberries are sensitive to high salt levels at this stage.
Growing Tips
- After cold stratification, sow Soraya F1 seeds on the surface of a moist, sterile seed-starting mix at 20–24°C in a bright, warm position.
- Press seeds lightly into the surface without covering. Keep consistently moist but not waterlogged.
- Seeds germinate in 7–14 days. Do not add fertilizer at this stage.
- When seedlings develop their first true leaves, transplant carefully into individual small pots.
- Grow on in full light at a minimum of 15°C. After 6–8 weeks from sowing, plants are ready for their final containers or garden position.
- Plant in rich, fertile, well-drained potting mix or soil in a full sun position.
- Keep the crown at or just above soil level — burying the crown causes crown rot.
- Water consistently at the base of the plant to keep foliage dry.
- Begin feeding every two weeks with a balanced strawberry fertilizer once plants are established and showing flower buds, switching to a higher-potassium formula as fruits develop.
- Soraya’s compact vigorous habit makes it well suited to a wide range of container sizes — from 20 cm individual pots to large, raised beds and strawberry towers. In hanging baskets, space 3–4 plants per 30 cm basket for a generous productive display.
- Harvest fruits promptly as they ripen to encourage the plant to continue producing new trusses throughout the season.
Gulf Planting Season
- Best sowing time in the Gulf: May-June (after cold stratification — allows sufficient time for plant establishment before the autumn growing season)
- Transplanting: September–October
- Expected fruiting: November–April
- Note: Plants may slow during peak summer heat. Full outdoor sun growing in the Gulf cool season delivers excellent results without supplemental lighting.
