Strawberry Gasana F1 Seeds

(Pink-Flowered Ornamental Everbearing Strawberry)

Strawberry Gasana F1 is ABZ Seeds’ pink companion to their celebrated FleuroStar Award-winning Toscana variety. Gasana is the sister of the prize-winning Toscana, and its large pink flowers and juicy fruit make it a perfect match with Toscana in mixed displays. Where Toscana captivates with deep rose-pink flowers, Gasana brings a lighter, brighter pink tone — together they create one of the most visually striking combinations available in ornamental edible strawberry growing.

Both ornamental and edible, Gasana produces abundant clusters of large, five-petaled, bright pink flowers adorned with yellow centers from fall until early summer, followed by a rich harvest of dark red, juicy, sweet, conical fruits. The bright magenta-pink blossoms reach approximately 2.5 cm in diameter, are produced in clusters, and each flower resembles a small wild rose Spring — the same wild-rose flower character that made Toscana such a celebrated variety, now in a fresh bright pink expression.

Gasana has restrained runners, which makes it ideal for patio or terrace pots. It can also be used creatively as a bedding plant and is an edible jewel on any balcony. It is often semi-evergreen in frost-free climates. The restrained runner habit means Gasana stays tidy and self-contained in containers, directing most of its energy into continuous flower and fruit production rather than vegetative spread.

The plants and flowers of Gasana make a beautiful combination with strawberry Toscana and Montana — making it an excellent choice for anyone building a multi-variety ornamental edible strawberry display in containers or hanging baskets, where the contrasting flower colors of deep rose-pink Toscana and bright pink Gasana create a genuinely eye-catching arrangement.
Gasana has uniform and fast germination, making it straightforward to raise from seed and producing consistent, strong plants.

Seed Germination

  • Seed depth: Surface sow — press lightly into moist compost, do NOT cover deeply
  • Germination time: 2–3 weeks; can be slow and variable without cold stratification
  • Ideal germination temperature: 20–21°C
  • Important: Cold stratification for 3–4 weeks at 2–5°C before sowing greatly improves germination rates and uniformity.
  • After stratification, surface sow on moist, sterile seed-starting compost at 20–21°C.
  • Seeds require light for germination — do not cover. Keep consistently moist throughout germination.

Growing Tips

  • After cold stratification, sow Gasana F1 seeds on the surface of a sterile, moist seed-starting compost at 20–21°C. Press lightly into the surface without covering.
  • Keep consistently moist. Germination takes 2–3 weeks and can be variable — patience is important. Do not over-fertilize at germination stage.
  • Once seedlings develop their first true leaves, pot up into individual small pots and grow on in full light at a minimum of 15°C.
  • After 6–8 weeks, plants are ready for their final containers or garden position.
  • Plant in rich, fertile, well-drained soil or potting mix in a full sun position.
  • Keep the crown at or just above soil level. Water consistently at the base, keeping foliage dry. Feed every two weeks with a balanced strawberry fertilizer once flowering begins, switching to a higher-potassium formula as fruits develop.
  • Gasana’s restrained runners keep it neat in containers throughout the season.
  • Any runners that appear can be removed to concentrate energy on the mother plant’s flower and fruit production or pinned down to root and propagate new plants.
  • For the most spectacular combined display, pair with Toscana in the same hanging basket or large container — the deep rose-pink of Toscana and the bright pink of Gasana together create an exceptional visual combination.
  • In Gulf conditions, the cool season from November through April provides ideal outdoor growing conditions.
Gasana is semi-evergreen in frost-free climates and may persist and re-flower in subsequent seasons.
