Anemone Levante Mix

(Anemone coronaria — Levante® Series — Italian Professional Breeding)

Discover a Kaleidoscope of Color with Italian Anemone Levante Mix

Anemone Levante® Mix belongs to the prestigious Levante® breeding program developed, internationally recognized for producing elite anemone cultivars for professional floriculture.

The Levante® series represents one of the most important recent breakthroughs in commercial anemone breeding, introducing exceptionally large fully double flowers with vigorous growth, excellent productivity, early flowering, and outstanding vase performance.

Rather than offering a single flower color, Levante® Mix combines carefully selected cultivars from the Levante® series to create a spectacular display of complementary colors while maintaining the same premium flower quality, strong stems, and uniform plant performance throughout the planting.

Ideal for premium cut flower production, luxury floral arrangements, collector gardens, patio containers, and elegant cool-season landscapes, Levante® Mix delivers a vibrant display of fully double blooms from one coordinated planting.

Germination Instructions

  • Before planting, soak your Levante® Mix anemone corms in room-temperature water for 3–4 hours — shorter than the 6–12 hours required for Mistral series corms.
  • Let a little water trickle into the soaking bowl to increase the oxygen in the water.
  • After soaking, the corms can either be planted directly into the ground or pre-sprouted inside.
  • For pre-sprouting, place the corms in flats with drainage holes, cover the corms lightly in moist soil, store at 7°C (45°F), and check on them daily.
  • Plant corms with the pointed side down in well-draining soil, 5–7 cm deep, spacing 10–15 cm apart.
  • If the pointed side cannot be identified, plant on the side — the growing point will orient itself naturally.
  • Keep soil temperature below 15°C during the root growth phase — anemones thrive with a cool start to promote strong root development and optimal flowering.
  • For floral arrangements, cut stems for bouquet making when the buds are just starting to show color for the longest vase life.
  • Cut the stems on the diagonal for best hydration — Levante® anemones are heavy drinkers, and vase life increases with fresh water daily.
  • Keep cut flowers away from direct sunlight and heat sources.
  • In Kuwait, plant corms directly outdoors in mid-September to October once temperatures begin to moderate from summer heat.

Growing Tips

  • Levante® Mix grows well in the garden, in pots, or in a cool greenhouse.
  • Not fully winter hardy but tolerates light frost down to -5°C.
  • Corms can be stored after flowering and replanted for multiple seasons — corms do not like to be wet when dormant, so lift them if the planting area will be watered during dormancy.
  • Water regularly but avoid waterlogging. For cut flowers, cut stems on the diagonal for best hydration and provide fresh water daily.
  • Keep away from direct sunlight and heat sources after cutting to maximise vase life.
  • When growing the Mix, individual corms within the pack will not be labelled by color — the identity of each color only becomes apparent as each bloom opens.
  • This color-reveal quality adds an element of pleasant surprise to the growing experience, as each new bud that develops can be any of the four Levante® colors before it opens.
  • For gardeners who prefer to control color placement — positioning blue against white, or fuchsia against white for maximum contrast — growing the individual Levante® color varieties separately provides that control, while the Mix is best suited to informal, naturalistic, or container plantings where mixed color spontaneity is the design objective.
  • All four colors share identical cultural requirements, so unified care across the entire Mix planting is straightforward — one watering schedule, one feeding programmed, one harvest timing.

Gulf Planting Season

  • Plant corms outdoors: Mid-September to October, once temperatures begin to moderate
  • Soil temperature during root growth: Keep below 15°C — cool start is essential
  • Days to flowering: Approximately 90 days from planting
  • Flowering: December through March for mid-September-planted corms
  • Flowering continues: Until temperatures routinely exceed 21°C
  • Lift and store corms: After foliage dies back naturally — corms do not like to be wet when dormant
  • Note: Levante® Mix is the most practical and complete entry point for the Levante® series in Kuwait’s cool-season garden — a single October planting of the 10-corm Mix delivers the full four-color Levante® palette in the unprecedented fully doubled form, flowering from December through March without any additional planning, color selection, or scheduling complexity.
  • The identical cultural requirements of all four colors mean that one care programmed covers the entire Mix planting from planting through harvest through lifting and storage.
  • For the Kuwait florist or home grower who wants to offer or enjoy the most advanced anemone series currently available from the world’s leading anemone breeding house — fully doubled blooms in blue, red, fuchsia, and white, each with the signature black center, on strong stems with 10+ days vase life — Levante® Mix provides all of this from a single packet planted in a single October session.
  • Combined with other series  — Mistral® and Mistral Plus® — a coordinated October planting of all three series provides a complete and graduated cool-season anemone programmed spanning the standard open-faced Mistral form through the enhanced Mistral Plus® to the fully doubled Levante® in a composition of considerable depth, range, and horticultural interest.

Companion Planting

  • Levante® Mix is primarily grown for its outstanding ornamental and cut flower value as the most complete Levante® series offering.
  • The four-color combination of the Mix — blue, fuchsia, red, and white — together provide a self-contained color palette that is visually complete without requiring additional companion color planning.
  • The prominent black center shared by all four colors provides a strong visual unity across the mixed planting — regardless of which color opens next to which, the consistent black center creates a visual relationship between blooms of different colors that prevents the mix from appearing chaotic.
  • In the cool-season garden, silver-leaved dusty miller planted around or between Levante® Mix corms provides a neutral metallic foil that intensifies every color variant simultaneously — the silver working equally effectively alongside blue, fuchsia, red, and white without favoring one over another.
  • White lisianthus or white snapdragons planted alongside the Mix allow the colored Levante® variants to read at maximum saturation while the white companion provides the neutral breathing space that lets the mix composition breathe.
  • For pollinator gardens, the fully doubled form of Levante® Blu within the mix provides the most accessible pollen source within the doubled bloom — the black center, though partially.

Garden & Floristry Uses

  • Levante® Mix is ideal for premium cut flower production, wedding bouquets, luxury floral arrangements, patio containers, ornamental borders, collector gardens, and elegant landscape planting.
  • Its assortment of fully double flowers creates outstanding visual diversity while maintaining uniform quality, making it one of the finest mixed anemone collections available
