High-Yielding Myles Garbanzo Bush Beans
Discover the reliable productivity of Bean Organic Myles Garbanzo Bush (*Cicer arietinum*), a desi-type (small-seeded) chickpea that matures in approximately 90 days. Grown organically, this bush variety is known for its ability to produce very high yields even in challenging conditions. Unlike typical long-season chickpeas, Myles is a dependable producer, making it a favorite for delicious and warming winter soups.
The drought-resistant plants feature deep roots, a branched, upright form, and reach a manageable height of 11-12 inches. These rich and flavorful garbanzo beans are packed with fiber, promote digestive health, and are an excellent source of antioxidants. As a nitrogen-fixing legume, they also naturally enrich your soil.
For successful organic cultivation, direct sow seeds when soil temperatures are between 60-85°F, about 1 inch deep and 2-4 inches apart, with rows spaced 18-36 inches apart. Expect emergence in 8-16 days; thin plants to 4 inches apart.
Myles garbanzos prefer a mildly acidic soil pH of 5.5-6.5 and have low fertilizer needs. Ensure consistent watering, especially during hot weather (up to ¼ inch per day). Harvest is typically about 2 weeks after bloom, when pods are nearly full size but seeds are still small.
Harvest every 3-5 days to maximize yield.
