Dahlia ‘Danique’ – Brick Red Decorative Dahlia Tuber

Its fully double blooms develop a rich brick-red to burnt-orange color with rusty brown undertones, while the petal reverses are noticeably deeper red. The International Dahlia Register describes the upper petal surface as vivid reddish orange with a yellow base and reddish-orange veining, while the reverse is deep red.
Commercially grown flowers typically reach approximately 13–14 cm across, while current European production commonly lists plants around 110–120 cm tall.
It’s unusual burnt-sienna coloring and strong cutting stems make Danique an outstanding choice for cutting gardens, autumn bouquets and sophisticated floral arrangements.

Growing in Kuwait

  • For Kuwait conditions, Dahlia ‘Danique’ is best grown during the cooler growing season after extreme summer temperatures have declined.
  • A practical planting period is: October to November
  • Plant tubers with the crown and growing eyes facing upward in fertile, well-drained soil, approximately 8–10 cm deep.
  • Avoid excessive watering before active growth begins. Once shoots and roots develop, gradually increase watering while maintaining excellent drainage.
  • Provide good sunlight during the cooler months, with some protection from intense afternoon heat as temperatures rise toward the end of the season.
  • Because commercial plants may reach approximately 110–120 cm, staking is recommended.
