Brighten Your Space with Gazania Sunshine Mixed

Bring a dazzling display of color to your garden with Gazania Sunshine Mixed. This mixture produces large, sparkling blooms in a vibrant array of shades that enthusiastically open each day with the sunshine. While technically a half-hardy perennial, Gazania is best treated as an annual in most climates, reaching a cheerful height of approximately 30cm (12 inches), making it ideal for adding bright accents to borders and containers.

Key Features

  • Produces large, sparkling blooms
  • Flowers open with sunlight
  • Vibrant mixture of colors
  • Compact height of approximately 30cm (12 inches)
  • Treat as an annual in most regions

Sowing Indoors (Late Summer to October)

A warm kitchen windowsill provides the perfect environment for starting these seeds. Sow seeds 0.5cm deep in trays of good quality compost. Water the trays thoroughly and place them in a warm position, ideally between 15-20°C (59-68°F). Ensure the compost remains moist during germination, which typically occurs within 12-21 days. Once seedlings are large enough to handle, carefully transplant them 5cm apart into other trays, always holding them by a leaf to avoid stem damage. Grow the seedlings in cooler, but frost-free conditions.

Planting Out

Gradually accustom young Gazania plants to outdoor conditions over a period of a week or two before planting them out into their final positions. Choose a location with well-drained soil and space the plants approximately 20cm (8 inches) apart to allow for healthy growth and abundant flowering.
