Experience Intense Fragrance and Deep Violet-Blue Blooms with Heliotropium Arborescens (Marine) Seeds

Discover the exceptional Heliotropium Arborescens (Marine), a very special strain renowned for its profusion of deep violet-blue flowers. The attractive, dark green, wrinkled leaves are often barely visible beneath the giant, clustered heads of blooms that are produced generously all summer long. Reaching a height of approximately 1½ft (40cm).

Abundant Deep Violet-Blue Flowers with Powerful Scent

Heliotropium Arborescens (Marine) is highly prized for its stunning blue to violet flowers, but its main allure lies in its incredibly powerful and sweet fragrance, often described as vanilla-like. The Heliotropium Arborescens (Marine) is particularly impressive, producing an abundance of these intensely scented blooms in large, eye-catching heads throughout the summer months.

Easy to Grow Half-Hardy Annual for Versatile Use

Although Heliotrope is technically a shrub in its native habitat, it is typically grown as a half-hardy annual in many climates, allowing gardeners to enjoy its beauty and fragrance each season. The Heliotropium Arborescens (Marine) is noted for its ease of growth, making it a rewarding addition to any garden, whether planted in beds or showcased in pots and containers.

Germination Instructions for Success

Sowing Indoors: Sow seeds 5mm deep into moist, well-drained seed compost. Propagate at a temperature of 15-20°C or place the seed tray on a warm windowsill. Ensure the compost remains consistently moist. Germination typically takes 14-28 days. Once seedlings are large enough to handle, transplant them into 8cm pots and grow them on in cooler conditions before acclimatizing them to outdoor temperatures. Plant out when the weather has cooled and the risk of frost has passed, with a spacing of 45cm (approximately 18 inches) between plants.

Growing and Cultivation Tips for Bushier Plants

Heliotropium Arborescens (Marine) is easy to grow. To encourage branching and bushier plants with more flowers, pinch out the growing tips of young plants. Deadhead spent blooms regularly to promote continuous flowering throughout the summer. Keep in mind that Heliotrope is not frost-tolerant, so plants will need to be removed after frost damage occurs at the end of the growing season.
