Lobelia Pendula Regatta Blue Splash
1,500 KWD
Lobelia pendula Regatta Blue Splash is a distinctively beautiful trailing lobelia from the professional Regatta series — a trailing annual blooming early and over a long period, producing white flowers with a blue throat and blue splashes. This unique reverse-bicolor pattern — white petals marked with blue rather than the conventional blue flower with white eye — creates an unusually light, airy, and sophisticated effect in hanging baskets and containers. Sharing all the Regatta series advantages of flowering up to 4 weeks earlier than standard trailing varieties, vigorous cascading habit, and no grassy centers.

Lobelia Pendula Regatta Blue Splash Seeds
(Trailing Lobelia — White with Blue Splash and Throat, Regatta Series)
Regatta Blue Splash flowers up to 4 weeks earlier than other trailing varieties, perfect for selling in bloom during Spring. Vigorous plants flower profusely, cascading over the edge of hanging baskets, larger containers, and colour bowls.
What sets Blue Splash apart from all other Regatta varieties — and from nearly all other trailing lobelia available — is its unique color pattern. Where Regatta Rose, Saphir Special, and virtually all other lobelia varieties produce a solid or near-solid flower color with a small contrasting eye, Regatta Blue Splash reverses this formula entirely: the flowers are white with a blue throat and blue splashes — a spattered, watercolor-effect pattern of blue on a white ground.
The result is lighter, airier, and more romantic than solid-color lobelia, with an impressionistic quality particularly effective in mixed container compositions where it bridges and harmonizes between stronger colors.
Regatta Blue Splash blooms up to 4 weeks earlier than other trailing varieties, creating a spectacular early display. With its mounded, trailing habit, it elegantly cascades over the edges of hanging baskets, larger containers, and colorful bowls at a modest height of 15–20 cm and spread of 25–30 cm.
In Gulf conditions, Regatta Blue Splash performs as an excellent cool-season trailing annual, with its unique splashed-blue-on-white coloring creating particular visual interest in winter and early spring container displays where the soft, watercolor tones complement the general palette of Gulf cool-season flowers.
Regatta Blue Splash vs. Other Regatta and Lobelia Varieties
- Within the three trailing lobelia varieties in this collection, Blue Splash occupies a unique visual niche. Saphir Special (classic series) delivers solid electric blue — bold and saturated. Regatta Rose delivers solid carmine rose — warm and assertive.
- Regatta Blue Splash delivers white with blue splashes — light, airy, and painterly. All three together in a mixed basket or planting scheme create a complete tonal range from deep to pale, and from warm to cool, that is visually richer than any single color alone.

- Critical moisture: Maintain high moisture (saturated to medium-wet) from sowing. Use plastic domes or regular misting throughout germination.
- Place seeds on surface of fine, moist, sterile seed-starting mix. Press lightly without covering. Water gently and maintain consistently high moisture from day one.
- Germination takes 15–21 days. Once seedlings develop, handle in natural clumps for transplanting.
Growing Tips
- All growing requirements for Regatta Blue Splash are identical to Regatta Rose.
- Start 8–10 weeks before desired transplanting — no individual thinning needed.
- Plant in moist, fertile, well-drained container mix.
- Water daily in warm conditions.
- Feed every two weeks with balanced fertilizer, then switch to low-nitrogen formula once flowering is established.
- Partial afternoon shade in the Gulf extends the cool-season flowering window significantly.
- Blue Splash is particularly effective in mixed container combinations — its white-with-blue-splash coloring acts as a visual bridge between stronger adjacent colors, softening transitions and creating cohesion in multi-colored displays.
Gulf Planting Season
Best sowing time in the Gulf: August–September (indoors)
Transplanting: October–November
Expected flowering: November–March (Regatta early-flowering advantage — 3–4 weeks before standard trailing varieties)
