Pulsatilla Pasque Flower Seeds
Welcome the early beauty of spring with Pulsatilla Pasque Flower seeds! These deciduous, clump-forming perennial wildflowers, native to the alpine meadows of western Europe, offer a unique charm.
Before their silky, finely divided, pale green fern-like foliage emerges (reaching 10″ high with a 12″ spread), they produce attractive, nodding, 2″-4″ flowers, primarily in shades of purple with conspicuous yellow centers. Following the blooms are showy, feathery white seed heads, extending the visual interest well into the season.
Key Features of Pulsatilla Pasque Flower:
- Early Spring Blooms: Produces nodding, primarily purple flowers with yellow centers before foliage fully emerges.
- Silky Fern-Like Foliage: Features attractive, finely divided, pale green leaves reaching 10″ high.
- Showy Seed Heads: Follows flowering with distinctive, feathery white seed heads.
- Clump-Forming Perennial: Returns year after year, gradually forming attractive clumps.
- Native Wildflower: Originates from the alpine meadows of western Europe.
- Deciduous Nature: Foliage disappears in the fall, with new growth in spring.
Growing Tips for Your Pulsatilla Pasque Flower Seeds:
Start seeds indoors in early spring. Maintain a temperature in the growing medium of 70°-75°F (21-24°C) until germination, which can take 3-4 weeks. Once seedlings are large enough to handle, transplant them into individual pots and grow them on in a cool, well-lit area.
Harden off seedlings gradually before planting them outdoors in a sunny to partially shaded location with well-drained soil. Pasque flowers prefer not to be moved once established. Water regularly, especially during dry periods, until established.
They are generally low maintenance once settled.
