Strawberry Summer Breeze Rose F1 Seeds

(Ornamental Double-Flowered Strawberry)

Strawberry Summer Breeze Rose F1 is part of the Summer Breeze series from ABZ Seeds — a pioneering breeding development that introduced a completely new concept to the ornamental strawberry market. Where conventional strawberry varieties produce simple single white flowers, Summer Breeze Rose features semi-double flowers that resemble small roses — a genuinely new development in strawberry breeding for the ornamental garden.

The semi-double flowers of Summer Breeze Rose are produced in a rich deep red-pink tone — a warm, romantic color that is immediately striking against the dark green foliage. This double type of flower retains its color for a considerably longer period than single-flowered types, meaning the ornamental display extends across a much longer window than conventional strawberry plants. The blooms are visually impressive enough to justify growing Summer Breeze Rose purely as an ornamental plant, before accounting for the additional value of its edible fruit production.

The fruits that follow the flowers are sweet, medium-large, and conically shaped — genuine table-quality strawberries rather than merely decorative ones. The combination of abundant ornamental double flowers and productive fruiting makes Summer Breeze Rose one of the most versatile and visually rewarding strawberry varieties available.

Summer Breeze Rose develops a compact plant with very few runners, which means the plant directs more of its energy toward flowering and fruiting rather than vegetative spread. This tidy, self-contained growth habit makes it particularly well suited to container and hanging basket use where plants need to stay within their allocated space while delivering maximum visual and productive impact.
Summer Breeze Rose combines beautifully with the other colors in the Summer Breeze series — the bright pink Cherry and the award-winning snow-white Snow — making mixed multi-variety displays in containers and hanging baskets exceptionally attractive.

As with all strawberry varieties, Summer Breeze Rose performs best in cool temperatures and will pause during the hottest Gulf summer months, resuming productive flowering and fruiting as temperatures moderate in autumn.

Seed Germination

  • Seed depth: Surface sow on moist seed compost — press lightly, do not cover deeply
  • Germination time: Up to 4 weeks
  • Ideal germination temperature: Approximately 20°C
  • Note: Summer Breeze Rose seeds germinate fast and uniformly. Cold stratification is recommended to improve germination rates — place seeds in the refrigerator at 2–5°C for 3–4 weeks before sowing.
  • Seeds require light for germination, so surface sow and avoid deep covering. In 6–7 weeks, seedlings develop into strong, compact plug plants.

Growing Tips

  • After cold stratification, sow Summer Breeze Rose F1 seeds on the surface of a good, moist seed-starting compost at approximately 20°C. Press seeds lightly into the surface without covering deeply as light aids germination.
  • Keep consistently moist throughout germination. Germination takes up to 4 weeks.
Once seedlings develop their first true leaves, pot up into individual small pots and grow on at a minimum temperature of 15°C in a bright position.
  • After 6–7 weeks from sowing, plants will have developed into strong plug plants ready for their final containers.
  • Plant in rich, well-drained compost in containers, window boxes, or hanging baskets.
  • Keep the crown at or just above the soil surface.
  • Water regularly to maintain consistent moisture, feeding every two weeks with a balanced strawberry fertilizer once flowering begins.
  • The compact habit with very few runners means plants remain tidy throughout the season with minimal management.
  • The semi-double flowers last considerably longer than those of standard strawberry varieties, extending the ornamental display season significantly.
  • Deadhead spent flower clusters to encourage continuous new bud development and fruit production.
  • In Gulf conditions, autumn planting delivers the best cool-season outdoor production from October through April.
  • Provide shade protection during intense summer heat.
