Anemone Fullstar® Strawberry Corms

(Anemone coronaria — Fullstar® Series — Premium Italian Breeding)

Anemone Fullstar® Strawberry belongs to the prestigious Fullstar® breeding program , renowned for creating premium fully double anemones for professional floriculture.

Its abundant silky petals form perfectly rounded blooms in vibrant strawberry-pink tones, giving each flower a luxurious peony-like appearance. The densely doubled flower form offers exceptional ornamental value for gardens, containers, and floral arrangements.

Anemone Fullstar Strawberry is an extraordinary anemone variety that bears a striking resemblance to both peonies and double tulips. Some of these blooms gracefully unfurl to reveal a mesmerizing black center, while others burst open to showcase lush, peony-like petals in full bloom.

With vigorous growth, uniform flowering, excellent productivity, and long-lasting blooms, Fullstar® Strawberry is highly valued by professional growers, florists, and collectors seeking distinctive premium cultivars.

Germination Instructions

  • Soak the Fullstar® Strawberry corms in room-temperature water for 4–6 hours before planting — allow a trickle of water to run into the soaking bowl to increase oxygenation.
  • Allow plenty of room for corm expansion during soaking.
  • Choose a location with well-draining soil that does not puddle 5–6 hours after heavy rain.
  • Adding organic matter of 5–7 cm improves drainage.
  • Plant corms 5–7 cm deep, spacing 10–15 cm apart.
  • Corms take approximately 2 months to sprout and 3 months to flower — slightly longer than the Levante® series.
  • For fall-planted anemones in warmer climates, it is recommended to remove plants from soil after harvest and plant a different crop in the same space for summer.
  • After the first month, fertilize once or twice during the growing season using a general balanced fertilizer. Using a 20–30% shade net is recommended — the netting helps keep the soil cool, keeping plants in flower production longer, and also encourages stems to elongate.
  • In Kuwait, plant corms directly outdoors in mid-September to October once temperatures begin to moderate from summer heat.

Growing Tips

  • Fullstar® Strawberry thrives in moderately fertile, well-drained soil in a sunny location.
  • Water regularly but avoid waterlogging — the corms are susceptible to rot in saturated conditions.
  • The finely cut, fern-like foliage adds an additional ornamental dimension to the plant beyond the exceptional flowers — the attractive foliage is a characteristic of Fullstar® series that distinguishes it from the simpler leaf forms of many anemone varieties.
  • Using a 20–30% shade net is recommended for production growing, as it helps keep the soil cool, keeps the plants in flower production longer, and encourages stem elongation — particularly relevant for Kuwait’s transitional spring months when rising temperatures can be managed with shading to extend the productive window.
  • Remove spent flowers to encourage continued production from the established corm.
  • The variable center character of Fullstar® Strawberry — where some blooms reveal a black center as they open and others remain fully peony-like without a visible center — is a natural characteristic of this variety rather than inconsistency; the variation adds visual interest across a planting of multiple corms, where no two blooms open identically.
  • In Kuwait’s cool winter light of December through February, the strawberry-red to white bicolor gradient registers most vividly, as the lower-angle winter light allows the tonal transition within the doubled bloom to be perceived with full clarity.

Gulf Planting Season

  • Plant corms outdoors: Mid-September to October, once temperatures begin to moderate
  • Soak: 4–6 hours before planting
  • Days to sprout: Approximately 2 months
  • Days to flower: Approximately 3 months from planting — flowering from December through February for mid-September-planted corms
  • Shade net: 20–30% shade net recommended — keeps soil cool, extends production, encourages stem elongation
  • Lift and store corms: After foliage dies back naturally — remove from soil, ventilate, store at 10–13°C if not immediately replanted
  • Note: Fullstar® Strawberry’s approximately 3-month days-to-flower schedule aligns with the Mistral® classic series schedule and is slightly longer than the Levante® series’ 90 days, making mid-September planting the optimal Kuwait window for first blooms from December onward.
  • The breeder’s recommendation for 20–30% shade netting is particularly relevant for Kuwait’s cool-season conditions — shading keeps the soil temperature cooler and extends the productive flowering period, which in Kuwait’s context means potentially adding weeks of productive output as March temperatures begin to rise.
  • The variable center character of Fullstar® Strawberry — some blooms revealing a black center, others presenting as fully peony-like — means that growers and florists receive a natural variation of bloom types from a single planting, providing both the classic anemone dark-center drama and the lush peony-style fully doubled form from the same corm planting.
  • The improved disease resistance bred into the Fullstar® series , is a meaningful practical advantage for Kuwait’s cool-season growing conditions, where the combination of humidity fluctuation during the transitional autumn period and container or close-spaced bed growing can create conditions that favor disease in standard anemone varieties.

Garden & Floristry Uses

  • Fullstar® Strawberry is an exceptional choice for premium cut flower production, luxury floral arrangements, wedding bouquets, patio containers, ornamental borders, collector gardens, and elegant cool-season landscapes.
  • Its fully double peony-like flowers, rich strawberry-pink coloring, and refined form make it one of the most elegant cultivars within the Fullstar® collection.
