Dahlia ‘Black Pierre’ is a striking Decorative Dahlia prized for its densely packed, beautifully formed flowers in an exceptionally deep burgundy red color that can appear almost black.
Despite its name, Black Pierre is not a true black dahlia. The International Dahlia Register officially describes both its inner and outer florets as dark red, while specialist growers commonly describe the color as deep burgundy or burgundy red.
The flowers measure approximately 9 cm across, while stems can reach up to approximately 110 cm, making this dramatic cultivar particularly suitable for cutting gardens and sophisticated floral arrangements.

Growing in Kuwait

• For Kuwait conditions, Dahlia ‘Black Pierre’ is best grown during the cooler growing season after extreme summer temperatures have declined.
• A practical planting period is: October to November
• Plant the tubers approximately 5–10 cm deep, positioning the crown and growing eyes upward.
• Avoid excessive watering immediately after planting. Once shoots emerge and active roots develop, gradually increase watering while maintaining excellent drainage.
• Provide strong sunlight during the cooler months, with some protection from intense afternoon heat as temperatures rise toward the end of the season.
• Because stems can reach approximately 110 cm, staking or plant support is recommended.
