Dahlia Caramel Antique: Elegant Tuber for Sophisticated Bouquets and Gardens

Create an air of refined elegance in your garden with the Dahlia Caramel Antique. These tubers produce a bushy, upright plant, reaching a height of 85–95 cm and a spread of 60 cm. Its sturdy stems and finely toothed, medium-green foliage provide a perfect backdrop for the magnificent blooms. The fully-double, camellia-shaped flowers, measuring 11 cm, are simply breathtaking. Each bloom features creamy-yellow to champagne petals with a soft amber blush at the center. Held high on strong stems, they create a stunning visual display in mid-borders or large patio containers.

Dahlia Caramel Antique is an exceptional choice for those who love to create beautiful floral arrangements. Its elegant cream tones make it perfect for sophisticated bouquets for weddings or home décor, with an impressive vase life of 7–10 days. The plant blooms generously from late-November through March, providing a continuous supply of flowers. With proper care and deadheading, you can expect to exceed 120+ blooms per plant through the winter. At the end of the season, simply cut the plant back and let the tubers rest in-ground for the next cool season.

Planting & Care Guide

  • Planting Time: Mid-September (when daytime highs fall below ~38°C).
  • Light: Full sun is best. Provide light afternoon shade if temperatures exceed 40°C to prevent stress.
  • Soil: Plant in deep, fertile, and perfectly drained soil. We recommend mixing 5 L of mature compost and ½ cup of crab & lobster shell meal into each planting hole.
  • Watering: After shoots emerge, soak thoroughly every 3–4 days, allowing the surface to dry between waterings.
  • Maintenance: Stake early, pinch at 30 cm for more branches, and deadhead spent blooms to encourage new growth.
