Dahlia White Swan: A Pristine White Tuber for Sun-Kissed Blooms

Create a clean, elegant statement in your garden with the Dahlia White Swan tuber. This robust, upright plant grows to a height of 100–120 cm with a bushy spread of approximately 60 cm. Its sturdy, hollow stems carry snow-white, camellia-type blooms, 11–15 cm across, that keep their pristine colour even under strong sun. The centers may show a faint creamy glow when they first open, adding a subtle touch of warmth. This is an exceptional variety for moon-garden accents and all-white pastel borders.

Dahlia White Swan is a true workhorse for cut-flower enthusiasts. The blooms are held on long, straight stems and boast an impressive vase life of 7–10 days when harvested at the tight-bud to half-open stage. They are perfect for creating a clean, all-white statement in large patio pots and for producing abundant flowers for beautiful bouquets. With consistent dead-heading and maintenance, you can expect over 80 pristine flowers per plant throughout the long flowering season from late November through March.

Planting & Care Guide

  • Light: Full sun ≥ 4 h; erect 30% shade cloth if temperatures climb past 40°C while plants establish.
  • Soil: Deep, fertile, perfectly drained. Mix in 5 L of finished compost and ½ cup of crab-&-lobster shell meal per hole.
  • Depth & spacing: Plant tuber 10 cm deep, 45 cm apart; insert a stake at planting.
  • Water: After shoots appear, deep-soak every 3–4 days; let the top 3 cm of soil dry between irrigations.
  • Feed (Fertilizing): Monthly low-nitrogen organic bloom fertiliser (~3-6-4) until late February, then stop.
  • Maintenance: Pinch at 35 cm for bushier plants; dead-head or pick blooms promptly to expect 80+ pristine flowers.
