Growing Tips for Your Poppy Papaver Lilac Pompom Seeds:
Sowing Indoors (Recommended): Sow seeds in peat pots or cell packs, gently press them into the soil but do not cover. This variety needs light to germinate! Keep the temperature at 65°F (18°C) for germination, which typically occurs in 14-21 days. Once seedlings are established, carefully transplant them into the garden after the danger of frost has passed, spacing them about 12 inches apart.
Direct Sowing: Alternatively, direct sow onto ground that has had the top one inch of soil loosened. Rake the seed in gently, pressing it into the soil by walking over the area. Do not cover the seeds. Thin seedlings to 12 inches apart once they are established.
Light Preference: Ensure the planting location receives full sun.
Soil: Prefers well-drained soil.
Water sparingly once established. Enjoy the unusual smoky lavender blooms in early to mid-summer!
