  • For improved flavor and sweetness, allow harvested fruits to cure for approximately one week before use.

Growing in Kuwait

  • Recommended planting period: September to November
  • Sunlight: Full sun during the cooler months
  • Plant spacing: Approximately 1–1.5 meters
  • Soil: Fertile, rich in organic matter and well-drained
  • Watering: Deep and consistent irrigation without waterlogging
  • Container growing: Use one plant per container of at least 75–100 liters
  • Pollination: Bee access or hand pollination may improve fruit set
  • Protect newly transplanted seedlings from intense heat during early September.
  • Keep the root ball intact during transplanting because squash seedlings are sensitive to root disturbance.

Harvesting

  • Harvest approximately 35 days after successful pollination when the rind becomes hard, the fruit reaches its mature dark colour and the stem begins to dry and turn corky. Leave a short section of stem attached and cure the fruit in a dry, shaded, well-ventilated place.
