- Strawflower ‘King Size Silvery Pink’ is a tall, elegant cut-flower variety producing large double blooms in beautiful shades of
cherry and pink, blended with silvery-white highlights and contrasting golden-yellow centers. Its crisp, papery petals retain
their shape and color after drying, making the flowers ideal for long-lasting bouquets, wreaths and decorative arrangements. - The plant develops upright, sturdy stems suitable for cutting and becomes bushier when pinched during its early growth.
Strawflowers perform best in full sun and well-drained soil and attract bees and other beneficial pollinators.
Growing in Kuwait
- – Plant outdoors during Kuwait’s cooler season, preferably from October to January.
- – Choose a location receiving at least 6 hours of direct sunlight.
- – Use fertile, well-drained soil or a light potting mix.
- – Water deeply when the upper soil begins to dry, avoiding constantly wet soil.
- – Space plants approximately 25–30 cm apart.
- – Tall plants may require staking or flower netting in exposed or windy locations.
- – Protect from extreme summer heat; it performs primarily as a cool-season annual in Kuwait.
Pinching and Flower Production - When the seedling reaches approximately 25–30 cm tall, pinch the main growing tip just above a pair of leaves. This encourages branching and produces more flowering stems. Removing flowers regularly also helps maintain continued production.
Harvesting and Drying - Cut stems when the outer papery bracts have opened but before the flower centers are completely exposed. Remove the foliage, tie the stems into small bunches and hang them upside down in a dark, dry and ventilated place.
