Growing in Kuwait

  • Outdoor season: Suitable for outdoor cultivation during Kuwait’s cooler months, approximately October to April.
  • Light: Provide bright filtered light, partial shade or gentle morning sunlight.
  • Kuwait sun warning: Although the breeder classifies ‘Limewire’ as sun-tolerant, this does not mean it should be exposed to Kuwait’s intense summer afternoon sun.
  • Summer placement: Move indoors or to a cooled, brightly lit and shaded location before extreme heat arrives.
  • Watering: Water when the upper 2–3 cm of soil begins to dry. Maintain even moisture without leaving the root zone waterlogged.
  • Soil: Use a fertile, lightweight and well-drained potting mixture.
  • Feeding: Apply a diluted balanced fertilizer every two to four weeks during active growth.
  • Pinching: Its natural branching is good, so frequent pinching is not essential. Pinch only long or uneven stems when a more compact shape is desired.
  • Flower spikes: Remove developing flower spikes if maintaining maximum foliage density is the priority.
  • Spacing: Allow approximately 40–60 cm between plants when planting in garden beds.
  • Penn State’s plant trial recorded strong performance in both sun and shade, with trial plants reaching approximately 61 cm high and 81 cm wide under its testing conditions.
