Cucumber ‘Quick Snack F1’ – Seedling

  • Botanical name: Cucumis sativus
  • Type: Cocktail / Snack cucumber
  • Variety type: F1 hybrid
  • Flowering habit: Gynoecious and parthenocarpic
  • Growth habit: Compact dwarf plant
  • Mature plant height: Approximately 50–60 cm
  • Fruit color: Smooth, medium to dark green
  • Recommended harvest length: Approximately 4–9 cm
  • Days to maturity: Approximately 38–45 days from sowing
  • Best uses: Fresh snacks, salads, lunchboxes and vegetable platters
  • ‘Quick Snack F1’ is an exceptionally compact cucumber developed for pots, balconies, patios and other limited growing spaces.
  • The dwarf plant reaches approximately 50–60 cm and produces crisp, sweet cocktail-sized cucumbers with smooth skin and a mild, non-bitter flavor.
  • Harvesting at approximately 4–6 cm gives the best balance of tenderness, flavor and minimal seed development.
  • Because the variety is parthenocarpic, its female flowers can develop fruits without pollination. It is therefore suitable for protected cultivation and bright indoor growing areas as well as outdoor containers.
  • Unlike most cucumber varieties, ‘Quick Snack F1’ does not require a large trellis, although a short support helps keep the compact plant upright and organized.

Growing in Kuwait

  • Recommended planting period: September to February
  • Growing location: Outdoor container, balcony, protected greenhouse or very bright indoor location
  • Sunlight: Full sun during the cooler months or strong grow lighting indoors
  • Plant spacing: Approximately 40–50 cm
  • Container growing: One plant per container, preferably 15–20 litres or larger in Kuwait
  • Support: Use a short stake or compact trellis
  • Soil: Fertile, organic-rich and well-drained
  • Watering: Maintain consistent moisture without waterlogging
  • Harvesting: Pick frequently at 4–6 cm to encourage continued production
  • Pollination: Not required for fruit development
  • Although the variety is sometimes advertised for very small 15–20 cm pots, those containers dry too quickly under Kuwait conditions. A larger container offers more stable moisture and root temperature.
