Commercial descriptions consistently identify Midnight F1 as an upright, high-yielding hybrid with firm, uniform fruits.
Growing in Kuwait
- For Kuwait’s main growing season, transplant seedlings from late September through November.
Choose a location with:
- Six to eight hours of sunlight during the cooler months
- Fertile, wel-draining soil
- Regular and consistent watering
- Protection from strong wind
- Afternoon shade as temperatures become intense
- Space plants 45–60 cm apart. For container growing, plant one seedling in a pot holding at least 25–30 litres of growing medium. A stake or vegetable cage is recommended once fruiting begins.
- Although eggplant prefers warmth, extreme summer temperatures may reduce flower retention and fruit set. Midnight F1 should not be advertised as capable of producing normally throughout Kuwait’s hottest summer conditions unless grown under suitable protection and cooling.
Harvesting
- Harvest the fruits when they are approximately 15–18 cm long and the skin remains firm, smooth and glossy. Do not wait for the skin to become dull, as this usually indicates that the fruit is becoming overmature and developing harder seeds.
- Frequent harvesting encourages the plant to produce additional flowers and fruits.
Culinary Uses
- Its slender shape makes Midnight F1 suitable for:
- Grilling and barbecuingRoastingFrying
- StuffingCurries and stews
- Moussaka
- Baba ghanoush
- Lebanese and Middle Eastern dishes
