  • Orange Accordion is an extraordinary heirloom tomato producing large, bright orange fruits with dramatic folds and deep ribs. When sliced open, the fruits reveal thick walls and generous internal cavities, making them especially suitable for stuffing and baking.
  • The tall, indeterminate plants continue growing and setting fruit during suitable weather. Because the tomatoes can become exceptionally heavy, the vines require strong support, and individual fruit trusses may also need additional tying.

Growing in Kuwait

  • Transplant outdoors from October through December for the best chance of producing large fruits before hot weather.
  • Provide at least 6–8 hours of direct sunlight.
  • Plant in fertile, deeply prepared, well-draining soil.
  • Grow one plant in a container of at least 40–50 litres; larger containers are preferable.
  • Install a tall, sturdy cage or trellis at transplanting.
  • Maintain even soil moisture to reduce cracking and irregular fruit development.
  • Avoid excessive nitrogen, which can produce vigorous foliage at the expense of flowers and fruits.
  • Limit the plant to two or three main stems if better airflow and larger fruits are desired.
  • Support particularly heavy fruits or clusters with soft ties or slings.
  • Expect reduced fruit set once Kuwait’s daytime and nighttime temperatures become excessive.
