  • Best Uses: Decorative pots, mixed containers, shaded borders and indoor displays
  • COPINTO® ‘Cuba Libre’ is an unusual premium coleus distinguished by its deeply lobed, almost oak-shaped foliage. Each leaf displays rich brown to burgundy red coloring, framed by a fine lime-green or yellow-green margin.
  • Its upright, medium-vigor growth develops into a neat, dense and rounded plant, making it suitable for individual pots as well as mixed container arrangements. The sharply cut foliage gives ‘Cuba Libre’ a more refined and architectural appearance than conventional broad-leaved coleus varieties.
  • The ornamental foliage remains the main feature throughout active growth. Small, pale blue-purple flower spikes may appear later in the season, but these can be removed to maintain a fuller, more compact foliage display.

Growing in Kuwait

  • Outdoor season: Suitable for outdoor display during Kuwait’s cooler months, approximately October to April.
  • Summer care: Move indoors or to a cooled, protected and brightly lit location before extreme summer temperatures arrive.
  • Light: Bright indirect light or gentle morning sunlight produces good color. Protect from strong afternoon sun.
  • Watering: Water when the upper 2–3 cm of soil begins to dry. Keep the soil moderately moist but never waterlogged.
  • Soil: Use a fertile, lightweight and well-drained potting mixture.
  • Pinching: Pinch the growing tips periodically to encourage branching and create a denser plant.
  • Flower removal: Remove flower spikes if the goal is to maintain maximum foliage density.
  • Feeding: Apply a diluted balanced fertilizer every two to four weeks during active growth.
  • Cold protection: Protect from cold winter winds and unusually low nighttime temperatures.
