  • Corno di Toro Rosso is a classic Italian heirloom sweet pepper, named “Red Bull’s Horn” for its exceptionally long, curved and tapered fruits.
  • The impressive peppers begin deep green and ripen to a glossy crimson red, developing a rich, sweet and full-bodied flavor at maturity. Their crisp flesh and relatively thin, tender skin make them especially suitable for roasting, grilling and traditional Italian frying.
  • Fruits commonly reach 15–25 cm long, creating a striking display on vigorous, productive plants. Corno di Toro Rosso can be harvested green for a fresh, savory flavor or left to ripen fully red for maximum sweetness.

Growing in Kuwait

  • Recommended transplanting period: October to February. October–December provides the best opportunity for a long productive season.
  • Sunlight: Provide 6–8 hours of direct sunlight during the cooler months.
  • Spacing: Allow approximately 45–50 cm between plants.
  • Container growing: Use a pot of at least 20–30 liters per plant; a larger container supports stronger growth and longer production.
  • Soil: Plant in fertile, well-drained soil enriched with mature compost.
  • Watering: Maintain consistent soil moisture without waterlogging. Irregular watering may cause blossom-end rot or malformed fruit.
  • Feeding: Use balanced nutrition while the plant establishes, followed by a tomato-and-vegetable fertilizer after flowering begins.
  • Support: Install a stake or small cage because the long fruits can weigh down heavily loaded branches.
  • Harvesting: Harvest green fruits once they reach full size or allow them to mature completely red for a sweeter flavor.
  • Late-season care: Provide afternoon shade as Kuwait’s temperatures intensify to reduce sunscald and blossom drop.

Harvesting Tip

  • For maximum sweetness, leave the fruit on the plant until it changes fully from green to bright red. Use clean scissors or pruning shears when harvesting to avoid breaking the branches.
