Dahlia ‘Tournesol’ – Yellow Single Dahlia plant

Dahlia ‘Tournesol’ is a radiant Single Dahlia producing large, cheerful sunny-yellow flowers surrounding an open golden-yellow central disc.
Unlike densely double dahlias, Tournesol retains an accessible open center rich in pollen and nectar, making it particularly attractive to bees and other beneficial pollinating insects.
The impressive single flowers reach approximately 12–15 cm across and are carried on strong upright stems.
Plants can reach approximately 60–100 cm in height depending on growing conditions, creating a naturally elegant and colorful presence in borders, pollinator gardens and cutting gardens.
Its clean yellow coloring, open flower form and strong stems make Tournesol an excellent choice for gardeners looking for a dahlia that combines ornamental beauty with pollinator value.

Growing in Kuwait

  • For Kuwait conditions, Dahlia ‘Tournesol’ is best grown during the cooler growing season, once extreme summer temperatures have declined.
  • A practical outdoor growing period is from October onward, depending on actual temperatures.
  • Place the plant in a location with good sunlight during the cooler months. As temperatures begin to rise toward the end of the season, some protection from intense afternoon sun can help reduce heat stress.
  • Grow in fertile, well-drained soil and water regularly, allowing the upper layer of soil to begin drying slightly between waterings. Avoid keeping the root zone constantly saturated.
  • Transplanting from pot, move the plant carefully without disturbing the root ball excessively, and water thoroughly after transplanting.
  • Because plants typically reach around 90–100 cm tall, light staking is recommended to support the stems and protect them from wind or the weight of the flowers.
  • Regular removal of faded blooms will encourage continued flowering throughout the growing season.
