  • Pantera F1 is a high-performance jumbo jalapeño developed for vigorous growth, excellent fruit quality and consistently heavy production.

  • Its large fruit size and thick walls make Pantera especially suitable for stuffing, jalapeño peppers, roasting, grilling, pickling, salsa and hot sauce. The variety is also slow to develop corking and shows good resistance to cracking, helping maintain attractive fruit quality.
  • Johnny’s Selected Seeds lists Pantera at approximately 70 days for green fruit and 90 days for fully red fruit, with resistance to bacterial leaf spot.

Growing Pantera F1 in Kuwait

  • Recommended transplanting period: October to February. October–December generally offers the longest productive season.
  • Sunlight: Provide 6–8 hours of direct sunlight during the cooler months.
  • Spacing: Allow approximately 45–60 cm between plants.
  • Container growing: Use a container of at least 20–30 liters per plant. A larger container supports longer production.
  • Soil: Plant in fertile, well-drained soil enriched with mature compost.
  • Watering: Maintain consistent moisture without waterlogging. Irregular watering can reduce fruit quality and encourage blossom-end rot.
  • Feeding: Use balanced nutrition during establishment, followed by a pepper or tomato fertilizer after flowering begins.
  • Support: The stems are strong, but light staking is recommended when the plant carries a heavy crop.
  • Harvesting: Pick the first full-sized green peppers promptly to encourage continued flowering and fruit production.
  • Late-season protection: Provide afternoon protection as Kuwait’s temperatures intensify. Extreme heat can reduce pollination and fruit set even when the plant remains alive.

    Harvesting Options

  • Green harvest: Pick when the peppers reach full size, become firm and develop a glossy dark green color.
  • Red harvest: Leave fruits on the plant until they turn scarlet red. red fruits generally become sweeter while retaining their jalapeño heat.
