Growing in Kuwait

  • Grow during Kuwait’s cooler agricultural season.
  • Recommended planting period: September to November
  • Sunlight: Full sun during the cooler months
  • Plant spacing: Approximately 1.2–1.8 meters
  • Soil: Fertile, organic-rich and well-drained
  • Watering: Water deeply and consistently, avoiding waterlogged soil
  • Pollination: Bee activity or hand pollination may improve fruit set
  • Support: Best grown along the ground because of its vigorous vines and fruit weight
  • Protect young transplants from extreme heat and intense afternoon sun during early-season planting.
  • When transplanting, keep the entire root ball intact, as pumpkin seedlings dislike root disturbance.

Harvesting

  • Harvest when the fruit reaches its mature pink-to-salmon color, the rind becomes firm, and the stem begins to dry and turn corky. Cut the fruit with a section of stem attached to improve storage life.
  • Please note: Fruit size, color intensity, maturity time and yield may vary according to temperature, soil fertility, irrigation, pollination and growing conditions.
