- Strawberry ‘Beltran’ F1 is a vigorous, everbearing strawberry valued for its attractive trailing growth and repeated crops of delicious red fruit. It produces white flowers followed by medium-sized, conical strawberries with an aromatic, pleasantly sweet flavour.
- Its cascading habit makes it especially suitable for hanging baskets, balcony planters and containers, where the fruit can hang cleanly over the edges. It can also be planted in raised beds or fertile garden soil. ‘Beltran’ is a seed-raised hybrid that produces several flushes of fruit under favorable conditions rather than one short harvest.
Growing Strawberry ‘Beltran’ F1 in Kuwait
- For best results, grow ‘Beltran’ during Kuwait’s mild season. Plant seedlings from approximately October to February, allowing them to establish and produce during winter and spring.
- Position the plant in full morning sun. During warmer spring weather, provide afternoon shade to reduce heat stress and protect flowers and developing fruit. Use a fertile potting mixture with excellent drainage, and keep the soil consistently moist without allowing it to become waterlogged.
- Plant with the crown level with the soil surface—burying the crown can encourage rot. Water near the soil rather than repeatedly wetting the leaves, flowers and fruit. Regular light feeding with a balanced fertilizer, followed by a fruiting fertilizer once flowering begins, will support continuous production.
- ‘Beltran’ is well suited to hanging baskets, but containers can dry quickly in Kuwait’s climate and should be checked frequently. It is not suitable for Kuwait’s exposed summer heat; protect or relocate plants to a cooled, bright environment when extreme temperatures arrive.
