Friggitello Pepper: “Golden Greek” or “Tuscan Pepper” — Mild, Sweet & Perfect for Frying
The Friggitello Pepper is a classic sweet Italian pepper. Its name is derived from the Italian word “friggere,” meaning “to fry,” which speaks directly to its traditional and most popular use: pan-frying in olive oil.
The pods are elongated and conical, typically measuring about 10 cm (4 in) long. They are harvested at a bright green stage, but will ripen to a vibrant red if left on the plant. The flavor profile is mildly sweet with a low heat level, offering a complexity that distinguishes it from a simple bell pepper.
